Innovating Agriculture Through Gender Lenses

Innovating Agriculture through Gender Lenses

In this innovative vision, agriculture assumes a prominent role in the development agenda. Creating more understanding of the role of agriculture in development has become a topic of interest. FAO (2006) states that:

“If properly managed, agriculture can have a positive impact on poverty alleviation, food security, rural and urban population distribution and the environment. Evidence suggests that these indirect contributions to welfare and their mechanisms are not well understood, seldom analyzed in the context of development, and rarely reflected in national and rural development policy strategies.”
